Hailing from Los Angeles California, to Nashville Tennessee, and now Tucson Arizona, Serge the former Musicians Institute alumni has not only been a multi instrumentalist for almost 20 years but has also been in the industry over a decade. He has worked with the likes of major artists and record labels such as Dr. Dre, L.A. Reid, Mike Portnoy (dream theater), Dave Lombardo (Slayer), Dave Ellefson (Megadeth), and Island Def Jam Recordings. Throughout Serge's career one of his greatest joys and accomplishments has been teaching guitar, bass, and piano and sharing his knowledge of multiple genres, fast licks, and music theory. His mission is too positively influence, inspire, and grow with his students, and help make the next generation of great musicians.
Teaching philosophy:
Serge’s teaching philosophy consists of learning different techniques, music theory, ear training, and improvisation geared toward his students becoming well rounded in their knowledge and playability of their instrument. As well as being able to learn their favorite songs quicker with understanding and fundamentals of what they’re playing, and of course having fun while doing it. He is great with kids and adults of all levels from beginners even to the college level and beyond. He teaches all styles of music, from blues, to classical, to jazz and pop/rock/and heavy metal.
Fun Facts:
1. Serge’s former band in Nashville “The Goldy Locks Band” was nominated for a Dove award in 2020 as well as receiving a #2 billboard hit.
2. Currently Serge is working on a musical project that consists of taking the most famous classical pieces from baroque, classical, and romantic eras from the likes of Vivaldi and Chopin and transcribing the music to electric guitar.
3. Serge’s godmother plays violin in the Phoenix symphony and had the opportunity to accompany “The Eagles” on one of their recent tours.
